Main Street Lockport, Inc. is a not-for-profit volunteer based organization that serves Lockport's historic downtown district.
Main Street Lockport's goal is downtown revitalization that preserves and capitalizes on the historic character of the downtown and ensures its economic future.
Main Street Lockport, Inc. has a fifteen member board of directors and four committee structure. It has been accepted as a 501 (c) 3 organization. It uses the National Main Street Four Point Approach. Volunteers work in unison to beautify, preserve, revitalize, and promote the downtown.
Four Point Approach
Based on a model developed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the organization addresses issues and plans projects using four primary volunteer committees which focus on:
- Economic Development
Main Street Lockport has provided downtown businesses and organization with restoration and revitalization services though planning, workshops and consultations. It has spearheaded educational opportunities through guided tours and Self Guided Walking Tour brochures. Our organization sponsors beautification projects such as Clean Sweep and public events that help to build community pride in the downtown. It supports local sites of interest and projects that strengthen the downtown. It works behind the scenes to provide in depth planning and projects that promote reaching the above stated goal.
